All about Foodbeeb

Hiya!

My name is Jessica, but you can call me Jay, or Foodbeeb. I am a 25 year old, continuing student, living in south eastern Michigan. I have changed my degree program too many times to count, I always seem to find a full time job that keeps me from actually finishing, and lets just be honest, ADD kicks in halfway through the semester and there always seems to be something better to do, like sleep.

I started this blog because to be honest, I want to be a writer, but the whole struggling artist thing just isn't for me. I'm a self proclaimed foodie, intense chef in my own head and kitchen, and culinary student who wants nothing more than to attend the CIA (Culinary Institute of America, for those who don't know) but so far the fates have me playing Iron Chef America in my kitchen, alone. One day I stumbled upon another blog, which gave me the inspiration to start my own, for documenting my own experience through culinary school, (which is bound to be amusing) general writing, and an outlet for whatever is going on in my always busy brain. Shout out to Aubrey and italktofood (if you read this and haven't checked out her blog please do, she it quite awesome and the recipes are worth it! I'll include the link)www.italktofood.com

So what else can I tell you about me?

-I am a fierce animal advocate and a loving pet mommy of two. I have an almost two year old rednose pitbull named Mama or "Goose" as we usually call her and a grey short hair tabby kitten named Remy. My life was truly changed when my dog rescued me. I don't think I have every loved anything as much as I love her and she will always have my heart.

-I love everything about food. I'm an adventurous girl, who will try anything twice. You can never rely on once! I truly believe that food is just as much about the experience as it is about the taste and I love the way it combines all your senses to create memories surrounding it (think about holidays and get togethers), I bet you remember the food in some way or another) I cannot wait for the day when I have the means and the time to travel the world, just to eat along the way.

-I am the oldest of three. I have twin brothers who are two years younger than me and I love them something terrible (even though we still fight as siblings only can!) My family is very important to me. They've always had my back. My parents may not have always agreed, but they've always supported me on all my endeavors and anything that catches my fancy. They've always been my biggest fans!

-I love truly, truly, love the Mitten! (Michigan for those of you who don't know!) Yes, yes even the snow! Trust me a few months of dealing with the snow are worth it for the summer and fall. Plus you won't find better sunsets anywhere in the world!

-I'm a complete country girl and southern at heart. All my family is from the south, so I spent a lot of time down there growing up. I have tried for years to suppress it, but I have an accent that comes out, especially when I'm really tired or have recently visited. Most Sundays at my house are spent working in the garage with my boyfriend and shooting guns. We fish, we hunt, we wear camo. I own a pair of steel toe boots and I can weld. It's a simple life but it's the best one I could ask for.

-Foodbeeb is my alter ego of sorts. Beeb is a nickname from an old flame who I was with when I first started this endeavor. And because of my culinary obsessions, I just became Foodbeeb. The name has stuck with me for a long time and I don't plan on changing it anytime soon. Foodbeeb is who I become and where I go, when I find something that inspires me, whether its a taste, a smell, or idea. She's fun.

Curious about anything .. Just ask!
